Yes it’s true, you can’t eat Hemp Protein here in Australia, (the only country in the entire world- we are a tad behind!) but I do anyway as it’s a fantastic source of Omegas Oils ( essential for brain health, function, straight teeth, anti-inflammatory, great skin hair and nails!) containing 2500 per 25g Serve.

Also really low in carbs- (yay) and has high levels of folic acid, calcium, vitamin E and Iron. Its RAW, VEGAN, GLUTEN FREE, GMO FREE, Sugar free, sweetener free..

Anywhere else in the world your good to go, so Aussies don’t be scared now!

This is an EPIC chocolate protein treat great for after the gym or just as a filling snack that promotes weight loss

Hemp Protein Bars – Chocolate Honey and Nut

1.5cups of dates (careful to make sure on the back of dates packet under ingredients that there is no added sugar!)
2.5 cups of raw nibble mix (mix of raw almonds,. Walnuts, sultanas, sunflower and pumpkin seeds)
¼ cup of chia seeds
¼ cup melted coconut oil
¾ cup of honey
½ cup of almond butter
1 cup of cacao power
1.5 cups of protein

How to:
Take the dates and ½ of the raw nuts/seeds mix and blend to chop it finely.

Add the honey, coconut oil and cacao and blend – don’t worry if it doesn’t work to well just blend as much as possible and then remove and place in a bowl

Add the chia, almond butter to the bowl and then work it by hand until it’s well mixed.

In a separate bowel add 1.5 cups of hemp protein and slowly mix in water until its wet enough to hold together- don’t let it get sloppy!

Add both mixtures together and mix like crazy until it’s all well mixed- be really thorough as if you don’t mix properly you’ll find yourself chomping on straight protein powder- and that my dear friends is not ideal..haha

Find a large flat tray, grease with coconut oil and press the mixture into the tin- it needs to be about an inch thick. Cover your hands on coconut oil to stop the mixture sticking to your hands. Once pressed I then grab ½ a teaspoon of coconut oil and spread it thinly across the top. Sprinkle chia seeds across the top until you have a covered dry surface.

Chill in freezer for two hours. Remove and cut the lines in the tin for the bars.
Pop back in the refrigerator for a further 3 hours (depends on how hard or soft you like them)

I then remove them all and cover all sides with the chia for extra crunch and omega 3s!

But you can do the same with shredded coconut or do whatever suits you!

ENJOY THE TASTE!!!

  1. Australia is Not the only country where it is illegal to consume hemp - NZ also as we share a food regulating body - what goes for one goes for both.
    Cheers.

  3. Thanks for the recipe. seems delicious. But it is not vegan, unless you substitute the honey with another liquid sweetener like agave (and it doesn't seem realy raw, but that's not a problem for me). And yes, Australia is Not the only country where it is illegal to consume hemp..

    1. it is raw because nothing is cooked above 36 degrees celcius, and if you're vegan use agave like you say, for us, we're not vegan.. do what you wish with the recipe ;)

  4. I don't understand why your recipes have so much protein and also protein powder. The research I have found says our bodies do not need that much protein.
