Raw Burritos Recipe - Raw Food For Kids

One of the issues faced as a Raw or vegan foodie is that getting a balanced meal in that has the right ratios for healthy fats,carbohydrates and protein to maintain a healthy weight, a happy mind, a disease free body and still have energy for the day. You need to make sure your Raw food is also keeping you healthy and not deficient.

And then you go and pop trying to feed children on top who are fussy little critters and it is a challenge. Raw food for Kids??? Getting kids to eat raw desserts is easy...but what do you do for the rest of the day? With the added hassle that creating raw food recipes can be really time consuming! Well I Say give them a slice of a Mexican fiesta! Raw Burritos ...mmmm

So I have created some balanced meals that are time friendly, kid friendly , family friendly and waistline friendly. Each meal is under 500 calories and contains protein, fats and carbs all from a healthy, raw and vegan source. You can rest assured that feeding yourself and your family any of these meals will fulfill your dietary requirements and keep you lean, happy , healthy and disease free

Raw Lunch or Dinner

Raw Burritos -serves four ( or two hungry adults )

***This recipe is nut free, lactose free, gluten free, Raw , Vegan and Paleo diet approved*** Please note some paleo followers dont eat nightshade vegetables- there is bell peppers in this recipe if you wish to exclude add more tomato

Raw Burritos Recipe -Wraps
4 Large Lettuce leaves - You can use cos lettuce , iceberg or collard greens
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt pepper

Wash each large leaf and then toss with ingredients above and set aside.

Raw Burritos Recipe -Avocado Sauce
1 large avocado mashed
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp chilli flakes
Juice of one medium lemon
1 tbsp red onion
Salt and pepper 
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Blend and set set aside in a bowl

Raw Burritos Recipe -Tomato Sauce
2 medium tomatoes
1/2 red bell pepper
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp red onion
1 tsp olive oil

Blend and place aside

 Raw Burritos Recipe - Raw Filling
Marinated Mushroom- thinly sliced**See below
2 tbsp chopped corainder
cucumber thinly sliced length ways
1 cup of grated carrot
2 medium tomatoes finely chopped
1 tbsp red onion
2 cups shredded lettuce
1 cup of mixed chopped bell peppers ( capsicum) 

Prepare and place aside

Marinated Mushroom.
2 large field mushrooms
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp chilli flakes
1/2 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste

Slice the mushrooms length ways thinly and marinate in the ingredients. Now place in the dehydrator for about 2 hours or until slightly tender.

To Make the Raw Food for Kids , Raw Burritos Recipe

Lay each green leaf out flat and divide the avocado sauce neatly over each one. Smear out to reach all sides. This is your cheese replacement and it's just fantastic! 
  • Now Add a couple of tbsp of the tomato sauce to each one and dollop around the leaf.
  •  add a handful of shredded lettuce then layer the filling ingredients
  • First the chopped tomato, then onion, then coriander then cucumber and then finally add the bell pepper mix
  • Split the marinated mushroom between each burrito and then finally add some more tomato sauce and roll then up!
