I recently discovered hazelnut butter...OMG..it tastes exactly like Nutella minus the chocolate so it got me thinking...why shouldn't Vegans and Raw food Recipe lovers have nutella to?!!

I have one topic to address before you go and make this recipe and that is to answer the sweetening debate. i.e. Honey..Maple..or Agave.

So why do I give the option of three different sweeteners?

Firstly, Honey is not on the menu for Vegans as it is an animal product. So to cater to a large majority share of our readers we give other options! My self I prefer to use a high quality Raw Organic Honey that has been made on a local farm with no heat treating and no harm to the bees. I always make sure that the Bees are left with enough honey to feed their crew and not a corn syrup like supermarket honey. This way it's healthier for you as you get all the amazing minerals and health benefits and to the bees who get to live in a more natural state.

Agave...A hot topic...supposedly natural and raw but seems to be a point of contention with many raw food lovers. Agave is often used by vegans as an alternative to Honey so If your a Vegan then this is a great alternative to using an animal product. But there is apparently some heat treatment that is part of the process among a few other possible hidden nasties so if your are going to use Agave Syrup then just do some research into the Pros and Cons before you eat a bucket full! Myself I use it occasionally but as mentioned I love my raw honey.

And then there is Maple Syrup - Again a really good option to replace Honey for a vegan to give that gooey caramel flavour but unfortunately it is not a raw alternative as it is heat treated!

So in essence you can pretty much find pros and cons to all three if your really set on it! It comes down to what you feel comfortable with. These are raw sweet treats  and therefore not eaten everyday. If you don't like any of the above you can try Stevia and increasing the dates...just add bit by bit until you reach the required taste. So let's get into the recipe!
